The Garden Must Be PLANTED!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

The rain has been something we haven't had around here in years. It is just coming down every single day. Sometimes it just showers lightly all day, and other times a thunder and lightening cell comes other and it deluges us. I have never seen the barnyard so deep in mud!!! It is terrible. I did go out between showers in put some plants out into the garden, 3 tomatoes, 8 peppers, 2 ambrosia melons, 2 pumpkins, 1 butternut squash. There are the seeds too...zucchini, cucumbers, sunflowers, cosmos, and bush beans. I probably forget something.... And today I made a batch of soap. It is now resting for 24 hours...tomarrow will be the cutting into bars, and curing for 4-6 weeks. I have enough of the raw materials to make another batch....maybe in two or three days. The last time I made soap for us, there were about 24-28 bars...and it lasted 2 years. Do I think that I could sell it? Maybe..maybe not. Sis, wants me to teach her....so later this summer we will make some at her house. Handmade soap is really nice on the skin, there are no chemical irritants. Hubby loves it, I put scent into his, desert sage. We will see how it somes out..

New Ideas for me!!

Friday, May 21, 2010

I just spent most of this week with my sis, Jane. We went junkqueing! And to some antique malls. I saw this really cute hanger cover, that inspired me for a use for some of the old embroidery that I have. I am going to make a few and test market them, mine will look old.
I found some sterling silver items, old bracelets! wonderful and fun to wear.
Other stuff too, a round print in a round frame, a girl's dress to repurpose into a great apron...it will sell easily for me.
Visited Nicole and Bryan, their new digs are really nice!

Happy Mothers Day!

Dear Fabulous Girl,
Enthusiasm is a beautiful thing... it's a power, of sorts...that can illuminate the most tedious task and the most dull day. No matter what you have to do, do it with enthusiasm...have a smile on your face and be excited about it!
Not only will time fly by, it will also inspire others, it will make you feel great and it will attract more beauty and truth into your life... and who couldn't use that?
Turn up the music, take the bull by the horns... and get the job done...and enjoy every second of it.
You are phenomenal, and don't you ever forget it!
The Brave Girl's Club......a friend recommended this website, it is a fun site run by two sisters. They send inspirational messages out daily.

May Day Weekend

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

My first venture into the world of selling vintage stuff, and my own creations! This photo is of the shop owner, Deana, and her super cool pink truck that she is very proud of, "Betsy". She invited me to participate in the weekend sale. It was fun, I sold some stuff. I had visions of better sales....but not this time. I will try again during the summer to sell my collection of great vintage finds, out-of-town people would be a much better crowd. I packed everything into boxes, tagged, priced, and ready to go.....maybe Memorial Day weekend! This starts me on a path I envisioned for a few years, and maybe more. FUN!! I have 2 dozen yellow roses in a vase, they smell so good...it is time to have more flowers. Tomorrow, hubby and I will own a new to us, 2006 Terry travel trailer. The new trailer will be a vacation cabin on wheels, since the idea of an actual cabin isn't likely to happen. Now, I need to tell him that I want one trip every year to the Oregon Coast! LOL Bye, Sharon
