Cute Ornaments To Make

I found this idea on Pinterest. I really like that a Twig wreath is used to hang the ornaments. The special-ness can be viewed closely, not lost in a large tree.

I have some of the tartlet pans around here, and I had thought to use them for something like this. Pretty Cute Idea!!

Vintage Christmas Tablecloths

Holiday Patterns - CountryLiving.com

I have a small collection of vintage Christmas tablecloth's because I love the bright colors and pretty designs. They are tucked away in my bins of Christmas stuff. It is time to get them out, once again....

I have been junking recently, looking for vintage Christmas stuff...including tablecloths. I have not found much stuff...just two ornaments. I have become very selective because I have too much Christmas stuff already....is that possible? Yes!

Christmas Tablecloths

Today, I boxed up all the turkey collection, fall and Halloween stuff. It is all put away in storage for another year. I was missing one item that I had displayed outdoors. I looked all around for it, thinking that the wind might have blown it off. I don't know for sure...but I think that a wild fox took it. The foxes have been real pests the last months...hubby had one glove carried off. The foxes ate every windfall apple left on the ground, and dug up some spots. How do I know it? The things were inside a sturdy deer - elk fence.

You are an Oak...

oregon white oak

Are you tired of people being condescending and belittling you? No one can make you feel small. They can try, but they won't succeed. You are a mighty oak that is firmly rooted in your own self-worth and confidence. Stop reacting and start owning your inner power.

When someone is condescending and tries to belittle you, remember:
  • This says everything about their own challenges and nothing at all about you.
  • There is nothing little about you.
  • Their behavior cannot make you small.
  • You are a mighty oak that is firmly rooted in your own self worth and confidence.
  • At the same time, resist judging them. Their inner challenges, pain and ego have driven them to that point. We all know what it’s like to be lost on our journey. Who are we to judge?
  • Resist reacting, and instead set boundaries, step away, retain your personal power.

Teapot Pincushion and Storage Idea

Sunday, November 25, 2018
Creating a DIY pincushion that is hidden and safe for pets using a vintage teapot from the thrift store by Sadie Seasongoods / www.sadieseasongoods.com

I think that this is a fantastic idea, that I found on Pinterest.  It is cute and a really handy way to store things for some needed sewing essentials. I love how it holds the small scissors, thread, thimble, and other needed items. I think that I might have a teapot or a covered sugar around here to upcycle into this project.

Astounding

Saturday, November 24, 2018

Yes, we just might be surprised at what we can accomplish.

I am about to get parts to repair the bathtub faucet in my main floor bathroom. The problem is that it no longer mixes the hot and cold water properly. Last week when we fixed the slight clog, something happened to do this. I will contact the Moen company next week to get the parts, for the set has a lifetime warranty, and I am going to fix it! It doesn't sound like a big deal....but it is.

Doing What You Love

Friday, November 23, 2018

"Doing what you love is not a selfish pursuit. It is in every conceivable way a contribution to humanity. When you're doing what you love, other people observe you in that joy and freedom and it gives them permission (unconsciously perhaps) to feel like they can do the same. So today, go and do what you love, and thank you in advance for serving humanity!"- Bernadette Logue

Be True To You

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

You'll never find your happiness in someone else's version of life. You are not like anyone else.

You are different from anyone who ever came before you and anyone who will ever come after; your likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations are unique to you.

It's so worth it to do the work to figure out just what it is that brings the sparkle into your eyes.

Find out what really lights you up and then search for more of THAT in your life. Own it, grow it, protect it, and embrace it. Search it out and hold on to it -- FIND YOUR JOY IN IT.

Just be you, then be true to that YOU. The world needs you in all of your alive-ness. You can't come completely alive until you know what it is that gets you there.
www.bravegirlsclub.com

I am experiencing the problem of having others try to manipulate and control me. I refuse to be used by these persons. I am true to myself, I own it, protect it, and embrace it. Your views are yours, and I do not share them. It is the same as religion and politics.....we are different.

The best things love the whole of you. All Of You.

Your daily truth from Brave Living...
Dear Spectacular Girl,

The best things love the whole of you. ALL OF YOU.

THE BEST people, the best relationships, the best situations......they celebrate you where you are strong and sparkling and they help you and encourage you where you are weak and struggling.

The best relationships love you in all of your truth.....the good, the bad, even the ugly. The best relationships want all of it, because it is part of YOU. The best jobs love the whole of you...and even can utilize your feistiness and your brilliance and your weird ideas and can always forgive your bad days.....because they are part of you.

Beautiful friend...please don’t settle for someone or something that is afraid of how sparkling you are because it makes them seem smaller. Please don’t put up with someone or something that belittles the things about you that you are struggling to overcome. People can make us feel small through BOTH our strengths and weaknesses.........anyone or anything that has the intention of making us feel small should not be allowed in our life.

YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED.....where you are sparkling and where you are struggling...all of it. ALL OF YOU.

www.bravegirlsclub.com

My life has led me to do this...for my own peace of mind. Remember -

Maybe a time comes when you need to leave the narrow minded dolts behind. They have problems with themselves, and are not good for you. They are not allowed in my life.

Life Changes - Good and Bad

Tuesday, November 13, 2018
the-believe-pixie-low-res1

Things happen in life that leave us changed…different than we were before they happened.

Sometimes, friend, the changes are amazing and wonderful and awesome yet sometimes they leave us feeling wounded, raw and confused…maybe even broken. Either way, we are changed because of what has happened.

When life takes us down roads that we never knew about before, roads that we probably never would have chosen had we been given the chance…the best thing to do is to is look around and learn as much as we can, take in all the goodness we can, strengthen ourselves where we can and just know that life is always moving and whatever season we are in right now…a new one is just around the corner.

So enjoy it when it’s wonderful and learn from it when it is difficult. Tomorrow you will know even more than you did today because of it…and that is what life is all about.

Walk tall and confident into your life. Each new day you are getting stronger, wiser and more like you. It is a beautiful sight to behold.

My junking paid off today. I found a new Lodge Cast Iron Wedge Pan.  My hubby is going to get it wrapped up for Christmas. He loves his cast iron cookware. How about a delicious pan of bacon, Cheddar, cornbread? Yummy!

Or...how about a dessert?

The perfect harmony of sweet and savory flavors, these Apple-Cheddar Pie Wedges make a cozy dessert.

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
11⁄2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1⁄4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1⁄8 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch kosher salt

6 Reminders for Staying Strong

Saturday, November 10, 2018
Art Print: If it Doesn't Challenge You, it Doesn't Change You. Challenging Quote, Lettering Poster. Black Typo by Anna Kutukova : 12x12in

From www.thedailypositive.com

If life challenges are knocking on your door, or they’ve already moved on in and seem to be making themselves at home (!!), I’ve got 6 empowering reminders for you.

Tune in, because it’s time for you to rise up strong…

How to Stay Strong During Life Challenges – 6 Reminders

Reminder #1
You have A 100% track record for getting through everything in your life.

You’re doing pretty darn awesome!

You’re still breathing, heart beating, and you have what it takes to walk ahead powerfully.

Remind yourself every day – “I will be okay. Everything will be okay. I always get through somehow. I trust this.”

Reminder #2
This too shall pass.

Challenges are like storms that arrive in your life, like a weather pattern. Storms have a life span. And your life span is longer than its!

The storm will come and it will go, and you will outlive it.

Remember, this is a season. Like everything in life, it will eventually pass. Thoughts pass. Feelings pass. Challenges pass.

Be patient and trust.

Reminder #3
Diamonds are made under pressure, and so are you. Your challenges will be the making of you.

Life challenges pressuring you are softening your rough edges, calling you to evolve, buffering you to expose the power and beauty you have.

On the other side of this challenge, you will shine again, brighter than before.

Reminder #4
All challenges morph into wisdom.

This is the gift that challenges bring. They come to offer you something.

Whatever you get out of a challenge in the form of greater understanding, skills and life wisdom, you will not only use in future (as a handy side benefit) but you will NEED in future.

There is Divine Order in your life. Maybe you don’t know yet what this life challenge is gifting you, or maybe you do. Maybe you don’t know yet what this wisdom is for, but you will find out soon enough!

Perhaps the wisdom is to support something you will DO in the future. Perhaps it is to help you SHARE that wisdom with someone else in your life, to uplift them on their journey. You needn’t be concerned about why you’re being given this wisdom, only that it is has purpose.

The Universe/Divinity (whatever word you use to describe a higher power at play in your life)… it moves us across each others life paths, in right time and right order. We end up learning through challenges and then being called forth into work, career, vocations, relationships, situations and places in order that we can contribute through the wisdom we have gained.

There is purpose to what you are going through. Trust this.

Reminder #5
‘Sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together‘

That’s actually a Marilyn Monroe quote!

Remember that when it feels like life is falling apart, sometimes it’s actually life’s way of spring cleaning you (and your circumstances) to prepare you for the coming summer season of your life.

So even though it’s tempting to think that life is beating down on you, pause to consider if maybe the slate is being wiped clean in order that something better can form.

Reminder #6
What we resist persists. So, it’s vital TO let go and flow.

Use this mantra on a daily basis… “This is happening, and I choose peace.”

Your attitude is EVERYTHING when it comes to staying strong. You will either become a victim to what is happening or you will rise up and be a victor.

The choice is yours, and it all starts in your mindset.

I hope these reminders are helpful for whatever life challenges you might be going through now, or that you may face on your forward journey.

It's time for you to rise up strong...

Beauty of Your Dreams

Friday, November 9, 2018

Dear Fabulous Girl,

Just like every amazing, brave girl, your mind and heart are filled with lots and lots of ideas and dreams. Sometimes that puts us into a panic because we feel like we have to do it all right now or that we will run out of time, or like the window of opportunity will close.

Please remember, phenomenal friend that there is a season for everything.

You may find when you ask your heart of hearts, that you can only focus on one big thing at a time if you are to do it in the beautiful, soulful way that you love to do things, and that other things may have to wait for now.

You may find that you can juggle two or three special things, but that you will have to let some other things go for now. What you will most likely NOT find if you are very very soulfully honest with yourself and if you listen very closely, is that you can not do EVERYTHING you want to do at once...because sacred things will suffer...most especially you and those who are most important to you.

So please give yourself permission to put some things on a different timetable so that you can give the best of yourself to the things that are very most important in THIS season of your life. It does not make you weak or powerless when you let things go. On the contrary, it shows your strength and commitment to all that this best for your own precious life.

You are so incredible, and so very very VERY loved.

xoxo

Sourdough Bread

Thursday, November 8, 2018

Hubby received this cookbook back in 2003, and never used it.  Last week he got it out (after I pulled it out) and looked for sourdough bread recipes. He found a recipe that he wanted to try, he has never made bread other than biscuits.  There it was, Page 83, Sourdough Buttermilk Bread. I assisted in cutting the recipe in half, from 4 loaves to 2 loaves.  His first attempt resulted in dense bread. Today, he tried it again...and made sure the yeast was good. The result, pretty good. He is hooked, there will be homemade bread every week.

Compassion and Kindness

Monday, November 5, 2018

Dear Compassionate Soul,

Everyone has private little hurts that no one really knows about. Struggles and loss are part of this life.

So even though someone might have a smile on their face and is going about their day, doing their best to make the most of life...often there is a tinge of pain there. It is the human part of us.

The most important thing we can do, the most HEALING thing we can do is to recognize this human-ness in others. Sometimes when someone seems grouchy, distant or irresponsible, it is because they are doing all that they can to hold everything together. Sometimes this is truer than true about our own selves.

Let's be kind.

Let's be compassionate and patient with each other.

Let's look past the way things look on the outside and SEE the way things really are.

Let's love each other in all of our frailness, in our weakness and in our worst moments.

You are not alone in the way that you feel. Each person beside you, in front of you and behind you is also working through something right now.

You are so very loved.

xoxo

Strong Women

Yes, absolutely....women today must be strong, we must be leaders, and mothers. We must be able to take care of ourselves. There is no option to be weak, scared, inferior, etc. We must live our lives bravely.

Be What You Want

Saturday, November 3, 2018

Your daily truth from Brave Living...
Dear Authentic Soul,

There comes a day when our souls have just had enough of the squeezing and coloring and carving and polishing we keep trying to do to change ourselves or hide ourselves...when our souls just want to be authentic and raw and whole and FREE.

Sometimes we feel a bit freakish when we stop trying to fit in...but don't you dare let that stop you, dear soul. The more layers you peel off, the brighter you can shine.

All that 'stuff' is just covering up your light...and the world needs more light. The world needs more authentic YOU. YOU need YOU.

You are amazing and unique and wonderful...keep peeling off anything that is covering up all the you-ness of you.

You are so very very very loved.

Cream of Chantrelle Soup in My Vintage Descoware Pot

Thursday, November 1, 2018

I got some Chantrelle Mushrooms fresh from the forest today, and I finally used my vintage Descoware soup pot.

This soup is wonderful, if you have an opportunity to make it....please do. I share this recipe with everyone who wants it. So Good!!!!

I found this recipe on www.cdkitchen.com

Cream of Chanterelle Mushroom Soup

4 Tablespoons Butter
1/2 cup finely Chopped Onion
1 Lb fresh Chanterelle Mushrooms, cleaned and well chopped
2 Tablespoons Flour
2 cups Chicken Broth
2 cups Half and Half
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper

Melt Butter in a heavy saucepan set over medium heat, add onion and saute for 2 minutes. Add mushrooms and saute 5 minutes, stirring often.

Add flour and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly to coat onions and mushrooms with flour. Add broth, immediately bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

Add half and half, salt and pepper and heat on low, just below a simmer, for 10-15 minutes.

Serves 4.
This soup is even better after being refrigerated 24 hours, the flavors improve.
