Redman Picnic Basket, Circa 1950s. The age is about 70 years. This is a large picnic hamper made of woven wood with metal handles, the colors are a red and green plaid. It has a little shelf to create 2 levels, the lower one is the pie holder. The "Redman Basket Peru Ind USA" is still on it, and in excellent condition, the sticker inside is interesting. In fact, the company owners' name is Redmon...but the basket is Redman.
We found this unique picnic basket while junking in Las Vegas. A wonderful find, and for a reasonable price. My daughter purchased this...of course. She uses it to store her hobby materials. Very clever!
Vintage thrifting is difficult in Las Vegas, the history of the population is the reason. This was a small town before the 1950's when gambling was introduced. There were not many people who lived there, and may have possessed these vintage items. I don't see much, I look for vintage Christmas, and rarely find anything.
There are only 2 antique shops in the town. I don't even find vintage turquoise jewelry.
