A Hive of Busy Bees

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Today, the new bees were ready for pick-up in town. The nice, sunny weather was wonderful...and a great day for new bees. The bees are shipped from California, inside a refrigerator trailer to our supplier in Oregon, Glory Bee. They are kept in the dark in coolness, to keep them alive and quiet. This photo shows the back of the trailer, and boxes of bees inside. The bees come in these wood and screen boxes.

This photo shows my boxes of bees, up close. There are 3 lbs of bees and a Queen bee in each box. There are many loose bees flying around. These bees are not aggressive and not guarding a hive...so rarely will anyone be stung. Only the truck workers wear bee jackets. The bees did not bother us at all.

Next post - the bees come home.
