Growing Oregon Sugar Pod Peas

Friday, April 7, 2017

The weather is still frightful, cold rain and high winds today...with small hints of spring. Gardening marches on, and it is time to plant some things. Snow Peas are on my schedule to be planted. I just want to share this tip with you, pre-sprout the seeds. A few years ago I learned this method, and my germination and success is very good. My pea seeds have sprouted inside the house and it is time to plant them. I cover them with floating row cover, or mini portable cold frames. This protects the tiny plants and improves the growth of the plants for several weeks.
