The Aftermath of Skin Cancer

Mohs Surgery to remove Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

I took this photo January 20, 2021 at 2pm. This is the result from my Mohs surgery. 26 stitches removed and a very large scar. I had even worse bruising and swelling before this.

I am left with a droopy eye brow and eye lid, these will not improve. I cannot feel my face from above the eye, to my middle forehead, and into my hair by about 2 - 3 inches.

When I had an appointment with my Derm on Nov 20th, SHE REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK AT THE SMALL LESION IN THAT SPOT!!!!

I am so very angry with this situation. Medical Malpractice is what happened to me.

I am seeing a new person on Thursday, because I have other skin lesions to be resolved. I need new and much better care.

This is nothing to joke about, or ignore, this is what a fast growing lesion can do.

I am relieved to have the cancer gone, and that it did not grow into my skull. What a nightmare!

It will be a few months before I look into plastic surgery.

Lesson Learned-

Be your own advocate, be insistent, tell them what you want. Trust your gut, and intuition.

Carefully evaluate the care you are getting, if wrong, you can die!

Again, I had to insist on the biopsy! Then I insisted that I had to have surgery ASAP. (My DR said it could wait a few weeks)   I said NO, I need this in the next few days!
