The collecting bug - Oh My, I love collecting !
This is a small part of my collection of vintage American made pottery.
I enjoy the hunt, the find, the identification, the feeling of winning the hunt with thrift store cheap, good, stuff.
This display shows the variations in the yellow glazes used by several potteries. There are McCoy, Shawnee, Bauer, and Homer Laughlin here. The yellow Bean Pot (or Cookie Jar) in the left center is my recent find. I found it at a thrift store a couple of weeks ago. I could not identify it on the spot. It had all the characteristics of vintage pottery, but no hallmarks on it.
I took pics with my phone, to use at home for identification. Online, I did not find an exact match. I don't know, but my hunch (instincts) told me to get it. Several days later, it was still there...but, 1/2 price. I got it for $3.00.
Here are 2 pics, what do you think? It is heavy pottery, with a nice yellow glaze. There are no crazing, cracks, chips, or hallmark.
I had a good feeling and a big smile !
