Healing From Trauma and Stress

Others don’t often realize this - we even sometimes don’t ourselves. After traumas, learning to be okay again, when you’ve been chronically fighting to survive, takes time. Even after the event has passed, the mind/body/spirit needs time to adjust. Often we still psychologically feel in it’s grasp because it’s all we knew for so long... struggle and threat. Many don’t realize that just because the “event” has passed, it doesn’t mean it’s over for those who’ve lived through it. ​​​​​​​​

Despite the blessing to have survived, and relief that follows, a new chapter of healing & re-acclimating must begin. Be patient, understanding & compassionate with anyone in this situation, if it’s you yourself... you Must know you deserve to give that to yourself. Take the time you need, and if you need a hand reach out to those who’ve been there. Know it is strength to recognize you need help and to ask for it. Never reject your needs or find any shame in it. It is completely and natural for Anyone recovering. You Will, slowly but surely, discover your new normal and embrace the gift it is. Your mind/body/spirit will recognize that the imminent threat is over but we need support through this process. ​​​​​​​​

Find what works for you. However unfair it may feel to still have to deal with the damage it’s left behind, there’s no sense in dwelling on that. We must do everything within our power to gather our strength, little by little, to find our way through to peace, safety and healing so we may truly thrive once more; so we can live our best life forward. ​​​​​​​​
