I wanted to show you what living in smoke is like. This wildland firefighter shows how intense the smoke can be...and even worse.
Most of September 2022 has had extreme smoke conditions. Visibility is terrible, breathing is very hard on lungs, and statistics tell us that it is equal to smoking 40 - 50 cigarettes daily.
This is one reason that I want to move, The Smoke.
A little story here. Some homes have sold in the last 1 1/2 yrs. The new owners are putting their homes up for sale. This is due to weather conditions, including smoke, fire evacuations, deep snow, and incredible inches of rainfall. Sometimes we are off-grid..........and it is difficult.
No electric power equals, no cold food storage, no water from our wells, no internet, no heating or cooling, no landline telephones, and all of the time...no cell service. Bad!!!
I have decided to find a way for us to have cell phone service. Probably that will include a tower in this area. My internet searches have yielded programs that will assist. State, Fed and maybe some others.
This is only in the beginning stage, as an idea. I am beginning to talk to my neighbors, and they want to be included.
It comes down to life and safety. No 911 calls, or other emergency calls. Currently, we are just living with it.
My mission is to get neighbors to assist. To find opportunities to partner with business...local banks, credit unions, city, county, etc.
