Living With An Ankle Splint

Thursday, September 28, 2023

I have been living with a splint for 9 days, and it's a bad deal. I couldn't figure out how to use crutches. The stairs are nearly impossible. Sleeping is very difficult. This splint is heavy, large, very awkward.

I wanted to try again, but the Old Man has already gotten rid of them.

I have my next appt Oct 3rd, I really want this splint to be replaced with something that I can walk on...it would be great....

This situation is very difficult with the Old Man, he doesn't really understand my problems. I nicely ask him to help me do something, his responses are abnormal, he won't do it. I have been giving it thought... it is probably his dementia. I tell him how to help, and he repeats back to me something totally different.

He leaves windows wide open, and the electric stove on, I hope that he doesn't burn the house down.

He will not tell me what is the problem, so I try to figure it out. I know that his brain is a problem. He is not wanting to walk or carry things. I think that his hips are very painful, and one knee too.

A good thing that is going to happen next week. He has an appointment at the nearby orthopedic clinic. He will be seeing a specialist. I think that he is needing hip replacement. I don't see myself able to care for him during the recovery time. More stress for me. &*^%!
