This year, 2025, is a year of serious trouble here. I have had so many disagreements with the old man.
He has mostly wanted to spend most of our savings on the house, and he wants a new truck. I told him no, no to $75,000 for a new roof...we will put a reasonably priced roof on the house next year. No, to a new truck. We have spent $20k already this year.
He recently said something about living here for another 20+ years. He is turning 79 in two weeks.... I said "you think that you will live to 100." That does not include the many expenses for all the repairs caused by his dementia, new clothes washer, new riding lawn mower, new wall oven, and more. I am certain that I only know half of it.
His dementia is worse, his demands are worse, his memory is worse, and I am living a life that is depressing. I can only guess the cost of his care.
I don't have the desire and energy for putting out the decorations, and to enjoy them. I can only guess the warfare over it. The snarky and degrading comments.
I am in survival mode, and it is not pretty.
