I purchased this large covered soup about 2 years ago. It is very heavy clay, and has a pretty robins egg blue color. I didn't know what I found....it holds about 3+ cups of food.
Today, I found 2 of the small covered individual soups. The picture below shows what they look like. Note that the handle and top are different from the top picture. These hold about 1 cup of food. I did some Internet research and found this report from a blogger. She said -
"I have lusted for vintage pottery for a very long time. I’m big on identifying patterns and shapes. For years and years, there has been a Blue Tulip pattern in pottery serving pieces that has been attributed to Cronin Pottery of Ohio, namely because the mark used on the bottom was similar to a mark they used. It’s recently been discovered that in fact Blue Tulip is a Cameron Clay Products of West Virginia design."
This was discovered when a person went to the site of the factory, and found broken piece's of this pottery. Age - at least 55 yrs up to 81 yrs.
Cameron Clay Products was founded in Cameron, West Virginia, in 1936 and destroyed by fire in 1964. In its 28 years of operation, the firm produced some amazing art pottery. Often their pieces are confused with Hull, Shawnee or McCoy. The “Tulip Ware” long-associated with Cronin Pottery of Minerva, Ohio, has been proven to be manufactured by Cameron Clay Products.
