My Christmas Front Porch for 2018

Galvanized Basket Farmhouse Christmas Decoration DIY

Birch branches are great for adding height to an area and creating a more architectural look. For a more rustic approach to holiday decorating, combine birch branches with cedar and pine cuttings in a unique container or ice bucket. Here, a vintage camping container adds a touch of woodsy plaid to the organic arrangement.

Thinking ahead for outdoor ideas....fun, easy, simple, and inexpensive for the holidays. It is a bit early...but, I need to collect the moss, branches, cuttings, and things from the forest here. Sometimes an early snow does make foraging difficult. Tramping around in snow and getting moss from the forest floor is not fun.

Today, hubby and I drove about 2-3 miles into the national forest to forage some Chantrelle Mushrooms before they are gone for the year. I found many mushrooms, about 2 gallons or so. I plan to dry these mushrooms, and store them in vintage canning jars. Tomorrow is a good time to start this project.

I collected living green forest moss for the outdoor decorations. I want to use some to make moss balls...trying to figure it out.
