Another week of The Reluctant Caregiver, oh boy what a ride!!! Let me just tell you the highlights. I am "the driver", and let's say that going to town is a 1 hour drive each way. Today is the first day that I had at home, in the last week. Driving at night is not something that I willingly do... ER is the destination....again! He was released about 3 hours later. It was raining, and very dark, and there was so much traffic. The worst conditions for me. I detest it!
I have had a terrible time trying to reach his medical providers, such as 1 hour waits on hold at Dr. offices. Never talking with Dr. Finally getting a NP, and she helped. He has no date for surgery, or follow up appts. They are completely booked, so appts are at least 3 weeks, and always at a terrible time of day. So upsetting, it is almost no care. No way available to see someone for urgent needs. So, he has to go the the ER when he needs medical care.
So....I ask you? This situation seems crazy to me. Really, does everyone need to go to ER when your Dr. won't help you??? Is it like this everywhere is the USA????
Then, the next work day following the ER...his Dr. providers are suddenly interested in seeing him!! They are calling several times a day. When just 1 day ago I was pleading for an office visit!!!!!!!!!!!!
