I worked the problem out. He will ride with his friend, to and from games. I will taxi him to his friend's home. (I get a quiet evening at home.)
That way we both have agreed to this option. Oh, and BTW, he said that the game was nothing like that incredible 2019-2020 season. Fan's boring, no food to purchase...just popcorn and soda. The game was boring even though the Ducks won.
