Hum............I have a true story to tell. It happened to me yesterday 8-21-2023. I arrived at one of my favorite stores, A Goodwill Boutique in Eugene Oregon. I was just inside the shop, looking at jewelry. About 10 minutes later he came inside, and I didn't even notice. Not until his behavior became frightening. This man is severely mentally ill. He became very loud, talking nonsense and aggressive. I froze, I have never been in a situation like this. Everyone inside froze. He left the store after several minutes, what a relief for us.
The employees should have locked the door immediately when he left! He was dangerous!
I learned something important yesterday. Don't freeze and to stay observant. I should have quickly left the store, after all I was right beside the door. Now, my intuition is telling me, this was a bad situation. This man was dangerous. He might have killed all of us.
When I actually left the shop and walked to my car...I hadn't looked outside thru the windows. I saw him walking toward me. I locked the doors and slid down so I was not visible in my car. When he got about 1/2 block away..going in opposite direction....I got out of the lot and went the other direction.
This is a lesson for me....a wakeup call. I was not safe. This story showed me. I was not safe.
I think that all of us must be situationally aware. I was caught off guard, as was everyone inside.
