Teapot Cozy

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

I have been creating a few things recently. This is a teapot cozy I made. I used an old wool pink baby blanket that I felted as the base. A pretty bit of repurposed embroidery added on top, with some satin ribbon and buttons. There is a lining. I am really happy with the finished result. It looks very large, but the teapot is quite small, a two cup size. My birthday is just days away!!!!

Writing a biography of Nirom Hawley

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

These are beautiful roses, I wish that they were here by me. I have been spending several hours in the last week writing. Writing what? I am writing a biography of my Great Grandfather, Nirom Hawley. He was interviewed about 75 years ago by another relative, who put in information into a document. This old biography is difficult to read, things were out of order and paragraphs that didn't end. There are no dates, ages, places, and correlation. At this time there is more information that will be added. It is interesting to work on this project, and I want to produce a good readable story of his life.

Kindness and Caring

Friday, January 8, 2010

I have been thinking and reading these last few days. I am embarking again on my quest for the authentic self, for inner peace, and my ongoing choice to be kind and good to myself.
I need kindness and caring. I created a room for me, I turned a bedroom into my studio/santuary. The room is somewhere that gives me a place to relax, read, create things, and find peace and quiet. And myself.

Happy New Year 2010

Monday, January 4, 2010
We have an ongoing problem with Elk at our home. At times there are as many as 100 in the fields. This photo is of a smaller group that were here on the blue moon. Speaking of the Blue Moon, I understand that it is a rare occurance, the next one more than 20 years away.

We had a sad new years eve, one of our Dexter cows gave birth to a healthy full term bull calf that morning, however it somehow ended up in a large puddle of ice water, and become hypothermic, we found it, and gave it all kinds of care. It was too cold and died. Very sad for the newborn calf and its mother. Of course, we blame ourselves, not noticing signs of delivery....we would have put the mother cow into a stall...so sad.

The same day, I walked out on the cement patio, only to fall because of the ice. I twisted my knee, and are now recovering.

It has warmed up and melted all the snow and ice. That is very good.
