I want to run away from home!

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

This is a wonderful movie that many women can relate to, me included.  All I really want is 3 or 4 days straight of beautiful, sunny, nice weather.  There is nowhere to go near here that will fulfill that desire. I need to feel the natural warmth on my skin, face, and hair. I want to be comfortable wearing sandals, to be able to clean my swimming pool without having an inch of rain drench me. I want to put away all the winter clothing for awhile, and to drive my roadster with the roof down. I need to plant my garden!

OK, I am done with the whining, I will dig up some patience and wait. And wait, and wait............oh, how long?

Brave Girls II, The Continuing Story

Saturday, May 28, 2011

I will understand the unique awesomeness of who I am.

And the unique combination of what I have to offer in the world.

And what uniquely brings me joy, even if that makes me weird.

And what I really, really want out of my life, even if that makes me weird.

And the nonsense that I am willing to give up, for what I really want out of life.

I seem to be continuing my search for the answers to these and other ideas. I think that the answers change as I live life. Maybe the answers have more to do with the life stage, and age that I am experiencing. I know that sometimes letting go of ideas, and refocusing on my immediate path will be the honest, truth for me.

I have learned that to be true to myself...I must be quiet and focus...to allow my brain to work subconsciously.....then I know. It may come to me in the morning as I awake, or maybe just slowly understand the answer.

To thyself be true, and bravely search.

Mothers and Daughters

Friday, May 27, 2011

Nicole
Mother and Daughter relationships can be very wonderful.  I feel very blessed that we are very close, usually enjoy each other, and rarely have difficulties. We have had many vacations together, and can just loose a day in company. We are busy with the July wedding planning. I believe that she and Bryan will be very happy together, because they blend very well. I am a proud mother, and am so happy for Nicole. Love to you,  my Daughter.

Yesterday at Primrose Lane, Coburg Oregon

Friday, May 20, 2011

Yesterday, I stopped by Primrose Lane. I took these photos outside to show you some of the great things that Janice has there. It was the first really nice day in a long time, 70 degrees.

I was feeling pretty good after the Dr appt to check on my index finger. The lab report showed a rare bacterium was found in my infected finger area, then the infection spread superficially on the top of the skin.

My finger is healing nicely, the fingertip is still needing continuing care to bring it along. No additional medical intervention will be needed...yes! Next appointment is in a month.

What to do with all my old kitchen stuff?

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

I am really attracted to, and like vintage kitchen tools, bowls, casseroles, and enamelware. I have a collection that is getting pretty big. I have attempted to sell some of these things with only limited interest from customers. I have decided to box much of the tools, and some other things.  Maybe in a year or two I will take these things to a faire, and they will sell.  All I know is that right now...people rarely buy anything extra... it is just the economy.

I already have a bunch of vintage Pyrex boxed up, due to lack of interest. The magazines have articles about Pyrex as a hot collectible....not here though.

May Outdoor Display at Fall Creek Store

Friday, May 13, 2011

I snapped these photos this week at the Fall Creek Store.  The store has a really deep covered porch that the owner uses for great displays.  I really enjoy visiting to see the most recent stuff that is outside.  I always have my camera ready to capture these fun and enjoyable creations. Enjoy!

Fruit Trees are Blooming

Monday, May 9, 2011

Yes, the fruit trees here are starting to bloom....yeah!

The saga of my infected index finger continues.  I was sent to a Plastic Surgeon today, and he did surgery in his office. My finger will be recovering from the removal of the dead skin and growing new healthy skin..Yeah! Really, I finally found a doctor who took care of me.  So, I will skip blogging for a few days, while healing.

Mother's Day

Vintage Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day brings out much nostalgia for me.  I always remember my Mother, Tressa Alice Hawley Knoper Ruddell. She died way too early, I miss her so much. I am honoring her every day of my life, I am striving to be the very best that I am. Following my dreams and living my life to my calling. I have a small studio portrait of her in my studio, combined with a vintage mother artwork.

I think that she is proud of me, and enjoys my adventures!

1960 Singer Sewhandy Electric Machine

Friday, May 6, 2011

I had a small manual sewing machine as a little girl, there is a cute photo of me with it one Christmas. I barely remember it, but it looked like this one.  I starting sewing with my mother on her old Singer. I wanted that Girl Scout Badge and she helped by teaching me how to sew. I made a dress, with a plaid to match...it was a challenge. I wore my dress too.

I purchased this one that I found at the Thrift Store last week. It is an electric Singer Sewhandy, circa 1962. It sews a nice chain stitch, no bobbin at all.

It was only $15. I need the tension knob. The motor runs well and the needle is moving correctly. I was reminded of the 1960's when I actually learned the skills. Maybe, it was the thrill of the find!  It is now proudly displayed in my sewing room-studio-office at home.  Singer still has instruction manual for this little beauty online.

Vintage Dressers... I love them!

Thursday, May 5, 2011

I think that these two dressers are wonderful (they are not mine, just photos). I purchased an old beat-up dresser last week, $50...but haven't been able to work on it.  My plan is doing it white like these, with some distressing by sanding it a little. Mine is very similar to the top photo, with the 2 smaller drawers, and three larger ones. It has nice detailing, except the draw pulls are just plain wood. I am excited to get to work on it, basically sanding it thoroughly and refinishing with paint..except I have an injury to my right index finger (infection that is bad), I have to wait for it to heal. Ugh.

I promise to photograph the project, so I can share it on the blog.
