Glamper for Sister, a 1968 Lolander!
Saturday, September 27, 2014
I gave up attempting to convince my sister to get herself a Glamper last winter. She was completely resistant to the idea. She thought that at 63 yrs old... she was just fine making do with a tiny backpacking tent, sleeping on the ground, and roughing it in any weather. Well, she finally came around...she said why am I doing this? A small trailer made perfect sense. I found this one that has been completely redone, for the low price of $1700. The location is nearby, and I think that she would be very happy with the trailer. A 1968 Lolander that is pretty cute. I will see if she wants to take a look, and it better be soon. This trailer will sell quickly.

I got this vintage orange bracelet at the antique faire on Sept 7th. The guy who had this booth has a true junk store in Harrisburg Oregon. His store is so filled with stuff....that it is almost impossible to move around and look at his stuff. He never prices anything, and that is frustrating for me. This is a fun piece of jewelry from about 1970, in great shape. It fit my wrist and I wanted it cheap....so, I paid $10 bucks for it. A fair price I think, although it doesn't have a makers mark on it. A well made item...might be $20 at a shop.
Going Glamping Soon
I need to take out Prairie Flower for more camping before the weather turns rainy here. My plans? There is a large SOTF gathering at a RV resort, Belknap Hot Springs...about 40 gals with their trailers. As of today there are no sites available, I hope that I will be able to get one.

A blog follower asked me to show photos of the actual petticoats that I found at thrift stores. The camera on my cell phone didn't get great photos, so these will have to do. I hung them on my garden deer fence to take the photos, not a great backdrop.
It is now two weeks since my Dr's diagnosis of Shingles. The medicines are strong antivirals and steroids. The side effects were strong and bothersome. I am happy to report that the medicines did their job, and stopped the rash from getting any worse. My right ear still hurts, and my doctor reports no infection or shingles in the inner ear....only phantom pain. I am still recovering, and I hope that soon I will be able to report that I am completely well.

I decided to pick the Bartlett Pear tree because the fruit is starting to fall. We planted this tree 4 years ago, and it is still fairly small. The honeybees did their job this last spring, and the weather cooperated to provide a great crop of large pears. The tree looked like there were about 2 dozen pears, just guessing... I was totally surprised at the 50 pounds I picked. A few are ripe, so the others will ripen indoors. I am going to be canning them in a light syrup for this winter. Home canned pears are very good!

A good idea for my trailer, that has no water tanks. A vintage 2 gallon Coleman Water Jug. I have 2 of these in the dark forest green. I saw this one in great shape and after checking it out for gunk and smells... I brought it home. I think that a little outside cleaning, and filling the inside with fresh water with a few drops of bleach should make it just fine. Now...I will be able to bring 2, 4, or 6 gallons of fresh water, if needed. I carry them inside my tow vehicle when full of fresh water, to cut down the weight in my trailer. Sometimes a campground will not have fresh water available..and this is a good alternative for me.

The neighbors and friends that have an adjoining farm got home from a camping trip yesterday. They took a look at their game camera to see what has been around their farm. Guess what?? Another Mama cougar with her 2 spotted kittens. Well, I hope that they don't take up residency here. Good Grief!

Vintage Startex Butterfly Tea Towel |
Yesterday was the one day each year when there is a big outdoor antique sale in this area. Coburg Antique Faire. I went late in the day, and spent only two hours. I saw a friend at the sale, she said that she had been there 6 hours and was still at it...she had her shopping hand cart full of purchases. So much stuff, prices were higher than expected....but maybe I could bargain a dealer down a little at the end of the day...as they were tired and starting to pack up their stock. I was lucky, and found a dealer who was ready to head home. She said that she would make deep discounts....hum, I thought I will see. I picked out a few vintage fabric screen print items, and asked her for a price....OK, $2 each. Sold! I will use them in Prairie Flower. I had been there long enough, and was not feeling well from Shingles...so I headed toward the parking shuttle. I again saw my friend, and she had even more stuff. She sure has a love for the search...and find.
Update on Shingles, it has spread all over the upper right side, my neck, upper shoulder, upper chest. I have a painful right ear, and it feels like an infection...back to the Dr.

No photo today friends...no selfie...sorry. I have shingles on the right side of my neck. Size, about the size of a quarter. I decided that it might be the dreaded sh------, from the reports of others. I saw my Dr right away. I caught it in just 2 days, and that is a good thing for prognosis. I am now taking the oral prescription medicines. I hope that I will get over this in a short time. I should have gotten the vaccine....and I will as soon as this is over. And, no, there is no immunity from having shingles...one can come down with it again.
