Bluebird and Swallow Nest Boxes

Swallow

Swallow

There was a beautiful day this week, 65 F, and very sunny. A wonderful early spring day. The honey bees were out of the hives, and some flowers have started blooming here. The Bluebirds are singing and looking for nesting boxes. There are a few Swallows here...and it is a few weeks early. The birds certainly got my attention. I needed to clean out all the old nests from the bird houses....soon!  I had a good day and about 3 hours to clean out the 25+ birdhouses on the farm. I carried a ladder, and tools by hand. I am happy that the job is done for the year. However, the top of my left shoulder has a bruise on it, from carrying the ladder.

You may be interested in the reason for so many birdhouses. The whole idea started as a natural way to control flies, mosquoitos, and other bugs. The project works very well. The only problem is that the birds migration south is about September 7th. There are plenty of offending bugs that are here until the hard frosts kill them.

Do you like Magnolia Pearl? Then meet Tina Givens.

Or? Maybe you like the look, but the price of Magnolia Pearl unique clothing is outlandishly expensive?  A month ago I saw a woman who was wearing similar clothing...and the look was very odd.....it is something that can only be pulled off at some events. Not really a good everyday look. I might wear this as lounge wear.... at home.... by myself.... I want to introduce you to Tina Givens, a clothing designer featured here. She sells patterns for her couture line, so that you can select the fabric and sew your own clothing. Sew Tina Givens

The Beehive Cottage Glamper

Hi, I have not been inspired to post this last week. I follow this blogger because she posts about her trailer. Look at her last post...I love it, there are many photos of her "new decor" in her trailer. The Beehive Cottage

Vintage Sewing Patterns

I was browsing the thrift store a couple of weeks ago. I noticed a large cardboard box full of patterns. I decided to take a look, at first I saw only 1970's era patterns. I was uninspired to say the least. Upon further digging deep into the box...there were a few very old patterns. I have never heard of Du Barry Patterns. However the copyright date at the bottom is 1941....and the original price was 10 cents. I rather liked the illustration, and my cost was very low. I believe that this one was a keeper for me. All kinds of potential crafting uses are possible.  I would not use the original pattern cover, but I could use it digitally or make copies. Sort of fun, and I imagine these are mostly thrown into the trash, and lost.

Vintage Valentines

I think that these vintage cards are very pretty, and are worth sharing with you. I am not a valentine day enthusiast. No special decorations or gifts around this farm. Heck, I am lucky to keep up with the shedding dog hair and messy hubby. To everyone living outside the western USA...keep warm during this weekend's Arctic storm.

Rainstorms to be Stronger

I found this on Pinterest. I love Pinterest, it fills my time when I don't want to read....and watching TV is a bore. I find incredible ideas and have saved many on the multitude of files I have. This is said to be written by Taylor Swift. If she did indeed write this....I think that she is very wise for one so young.

The Revenant - A movie to see

This movie is incredible. I highly recommend that you see it in a theater. I did not know the meaning of revenant...do you? It means returning from the dead. The movie took 5 years...filming on and off. I think that it is destined to become a classic.  Two thumbs up!

Native Bee Pollinatiors

Native Bee Pollinators - Orchard Mason Bee Houses

I have been blogging about Bee Keeping. I talked about Honey Bees that are not native to North America. There are hundreds of species of native bees that do pollinate plants around our gardens. You can get the native bees to do the work for you. The Orchard Mason Bee is one that is familiar to many people. They are a solitary bee, and do not have a hive. Bumble Bees are another bee that works for us. If you don't want to care for Honey Bees...then don't. Start getting the native bees to come into your garden. I do!

Beginning Bee Keeping Class

I understand that some of my readers are interested in bee keeping, but have no idea where to start. There are many books available. Every author has their personal ideas and choices to sell in their book. I recently found an online class, at your own pace....from Penn State. The price is good, only $129 for the spring class...available now. I am registered and will be taking this class. Here is the link Beekeeping 101

Spiritual Clarity

This is an excerpt from an email by Lisa Claudia Briggs.

Sometimes a moment of clarity emerges. You remember who you are, without fears and patterns you have been dragging around. Something grabs and calls up the most powerful and pure part of you. You remember the truth, and you get a spiritual adrenaline that takes over.

Declaring that no one will ever make you believe that you aren't enough.

Deciding that you will not hurt yourself with certain patterns and behaviors.

Setting an intention that you will only live in the light.

Being clear about your absolute NO.

Expressing yourself calmly and without qualification around what matters to you.

When we release ourselves from the stuff that is dulling our sparkle and shine...our true selves will show up and amaze us.
