I am sharing my experience with my long time dermatologist, I started my relationship with her when she first diagnosed the melanoma skin cancer on my face way back in 1997. So, that is about 24 years. Her kids were born and went to college during those years.
The big deal is what she did 6 weeks ago. I had an appt for my yearly skin check, it is normally about 1/2 hour. With Covid-19 she has changed the appt considerably, my time with her was maybe 5 minutes. She did a quick walk around me, and gave me an Rx for some skin cream for my pre-cancer skin.
Now, next is what really what upset me. I specifically asked her to look at a spot on my right forehead, and I totally got the brush off. She will see me in April!!!! That's it!!!
This spot on my forehead has been growing incredibly fast, it was about 4 times larger than 6 weeks earlier. If it keeps growing at this rate.....it might be the size of a quarter by April. OMG! I have been covering this hideous ugly growth with bandages
As you might think, I called her office Jan 4 2021. I said that I urgently had to see her, ASAP.
This hideous ugly fast growing spot should have been seen 6 weeks ago, and she refused to look at it! I got an appt on Jan 9th. I had to wait all week. Oh Yeah!
Appt day finally came and not too soon for me, I wanted this thing cut off for the past 2 weeks. The stress and worry were pretty bad. Right during the holidays, too.
She knew what it was right off...a Squamous Cell Skin Cancer, the name of this particular type is Keratoacanthoma. Good let's get rid of it, ASAP.
This required a biopsy for insurance coverage. She removed most of the inner area, and put in two stiches. OK, I really want this surgery before the 29th.
Maybe, if the moon and stars align just right...I could have the removal on Jan 15,16,18,or 19. Then I will be alright to travel on the 29th.
