My Painful Fingers and Playing the Ukulele.....

Monday, October 7, 2019

Have you ever thought of guitar training for your kids? Do you want to take it up yourself? #learnguitarchords

Finger pain, swelling, and stiffness have been a problem for a couple of years now. It developed in my left hand fingers. The index and middle finger on my left hand are my big problem.

I can not bend them well enough to play chords on the ukulele. My Physical Therapist has been working with me for a month. She discussed what she thought with me... I may have bone on bone joints in those 2 fingers.

Wow, that idea had me calling a specialist to get a diagnosis.

I had ex-rays and an exam of both hands. Yes, it is worse than I believed.

I want to get flexibility and movement with those fingers.

So, I decided to get cortisone injections in the finger joints. Dr. thinks that this is the best choice for now. This will not be a one time thing, and I may need the cortisone injections three times a year.

I am hopeful that this will help, and that physical therapy will improve movement.

The sad bit is, that I may not be able to play the ukulele...ever again.
