This vintage print is from the original oil by Albert Beirstad, done in 1868. It is cropped to a smaller size, 15" x 8" for the American people. My print is probably from about 1948, post WWII, the frame certainly looks about that time. The price was probably very low to be sold to returning GI's and their families.
Albert Beirstad was a prominent artist, from about 1862 to 1880. He died in 1902, poor and destitute.
I looked at the print and immediately recognized it as Yosemite Valley. A fun print to display in my home. Inexpensive and unique to my style. The great thing is that this framed print does not need any restoration.
The original oil painting is much larger and has great color. See the comparison.
I am still clearing out and ridding myself of much unwanted belongings. I take loads to the thrift store, and bring home something that I love and will use.
Maybe this compensation is totally a reward to myself. It does help with the difficult work I do.
