This is another wonderful recipe from The Pioneer Woman. I have her first cookbook, and this is in her comfort food recipes.  I have made it three times and we really love it. Just follow her instructions online or in her book. Here is the online link Chicken Pot Pie. This recipe makes enough for four guys. I thicken mine a little more...so it is hearty...and good for a cold weather meal, Yummy!!

Ree Drummond's Cookbooks

I am a huge fan of Ree's. Her cookbook are user friendly, and hubby really likes her recipes. She helps me out...I turn to her cookbooks first. Her Comfort Meatballs are terrific. Really, make it sometime....and consider giving these cookbooks for gifts. Well, I am back to making a shopping list for Thanksgiving.

Wow, I totally missed that her new season on Food Network has begun. It is a good thing that I had the DVR set up to record all new shows. I saw the 3 shows that were recorded yesterday. My plan to cook for my hubby has been sidelined. His Dr told him to lose weight and exercise. He needs to drop these lbs to stop his path to diabetes. I understand this, to stop this terrible disease before it happens to you.


Thus, he is eating omelet's, meat, and lettuce salad. The Atkins Diet. It works for him. There are some difficult side affects, it affects the brain with the lack of carbohydrates.

I am excited for her new season.  I guess that I just don't have many TV shows that I follow.


Jamie Oliver has a new show, What America Eats, where he traveling around the USA. He is learning about all the different foods and places across the USA. I just saw a new show yesterday, He was in Cody Wyoming. They were cowboy cooking. Outdoor Dutch Ovens, and over the coals. I am really "in" to that type of cooking...so I enjoyed that show very much. Jamie Oliver is his website.

Ree is back on TV with a Christmas Special that is airing on Saturday at 12 pm. There are also several other times.  She has Season Two on Food Network starting in mid January.  I like her cooking style...I can relate... and Hubby likes her recipes. What to do.....cooking?

What to do...when the days turn dark too soon for me?  I have to adjust myself, and change my ways.  I have decided to cook much better for hubby and myself.  Maybe he won't be so grouchy if I cook him some good food...he loves good food, and his cooking is often terrible. His idea of cooking is grilling two steaks until rare, and then get out some bagged iceberg lettuce. No 30 minute meals for him, only 10 minute meals. Ugh! I don't really enjoy cooking dinner...I think that is from working full time (34 years) and then coming home...to make dinner. There is much more to this part of the story...hubby always made sure I made it home and hour before him...so I had to do the cooking.  Sure, I have some standbys that I made all the time then. I know that I can do much better. I really need to plan, and learn new things to make.  I have found some things that we like from Pioneer Woman Cooks. She shows photos of the instructions, and I like her style of cooking.  I am not the Art of French Cooking type of gal. The Internet has helped me find good recipes, some of my favorites have some from online recipes.  Yesterday, hubby shot some ducks, and I an going to find a good way to make them! I am off to the Ducks Unlimited website to find a good recipe!

The Pioneer Woman on Food Network

Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman,  her new TV show started on Food Network this morning.  My review, I like it very much. She is in her own kitchen, on the ranch in Oklahoma, with her family....and cooking some of her families favorite dishes.  I am a fan...I have loved her blog for a long time, and I love her cookbook.  I enjoyed the show, and the fact that it showed the family and some things other than just cooking. 

Life is Quiet here on the Farm

This pretty bouquet that was at Molly Mo's last Saturday. I just love the color burst and variety of flowers in the blue Ball canning jar.  I don't have much on my mind to blog about tonight...I hope that everyone is safe from Hurricane Irene on the east coast. I have a hard time thinking about 90 per hour winds for 10 hours, 10 inches of rain, the flooding, and storm surge. The losses will be enormous.
