Brave Girls Club Camp

Monday, October 29, 2012

I am home from Brave Girls Club Camp. It is an Art Retreat, for women. The art that we each make is personal to ourselves, and is a fun way to deal with life's problems unique to you. If you want to know more about my experience just email me. You will see the email information on the right side of my blog.

This book featured in the photo is hot off the press. They are selling out printings fast. I want to recommend this book for your daughters, friends, and sisters for a great gift. Brave Girls Club  We were fortunate that the day before we left a new shipment of books arrived!! They gave us a signed copy...I love it!

Infiniti Pro Conair Spin Brush

Monday, October 22, 2012

This product gets my rave reviews. I hesitated purchasing one because the price is over $50. I decided to give it a chance...after seeing the TV ad for 200 times. Thinking to keep the receipt for a return. It is lower priced if you buy it online.

I let my hair air dry until it is 75% dry, then, finish with this spin brush. My hair is beautiful, shines, and is nicely styled pretty quickly. I don't have thick hair, but it is wavy...and tends to frizz. I like that I don't need both a dryer and a curling iron to smooth it.

I read that some people have had troubles with the brush not lasting very long. I will keep the box, packaging, and receipt...just in case. For that price I expect it to last a long time. ***** 5 stars from me.

McNally Strumstick

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Wow, I stumbled onto a website that makes these, right here in the USA. Yeah...they are not expensive, less than a camera I was looking at. Easy to play...at least easier than the guitar. There are only 3 strings, and the tuning makes it easy.  Smaller than a guitar too. Now I don't usually know what I want for Christmas...and I have 3 ideas. Hum..................

Paulina Falls

Friday, October 19, 2012

This is Paulina Falls, this photo was taken last month on my trip to the Newberry Caldera in central Oregon. This stream is the only outlet from the lakes inside the caldera. There was not much water at this time, due to late summer. That boulder to the left of the waterfall at the bottom, is about the size of a travel trailer. I was just playing around with my cell phone to see if I can get decent photos...and when editing with PicMonkey I was pleasantly surprised to see that the photos are OK. I am not a techie...but try it if you don't have a camera on you.

I am on the road, heading east to Idaho. I am planning to visit some family in the Moscow area. After the visit, I will be going south to the Boise area for Brave Girls Camp, an art retreat. Working......in the Garden!!

Friday, October 12, 2012
Harvest of 33 Butternut Squash and 42 Spaghetti Squash

Work, work, work...I spent a day harvesting everything left in the garden. Composting all the old, sad, plants...and removing the mulch film. Now the raised beds are exposed to the fall rain, and ready for a fresh topping of compost. I am happy to get the work completed before it rains, working in rain and mud is not pleasant. There still is more to do, after a killing frost on the flowers. I am very satisfied with the winter squash harvest. There are plenty to eat, with many to give to friends and family.

Fall Creek Market - Autumn Style!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

I drove by Fall Creek Market today.  The owner does very pretty decorating on the front porch of the store. I like birds, as you know....this is an original painting....love!

OK, more birdies...pretty little chick-a-dees perched with cones. Wow, the display is lovely.

What is autumn without beautiful mums and kale? Lovely, huge, flowering mum!! Welcome Autumn at the Fall Creek Market. There are many more pretty things to see...stop by and check it out. Fall Creek Market

Autumn Decoration

The weather is still summery, very lovely, sunny and warm. The pumpkins know better...they are ripening. Therefore...I decided to get out the three bins of fall decor from storage. I know...3 bins....in my defense, there are several large faux pumpkins in those boxes, and quite a bit of faux foliage, berries and bulky stuff. It was either that, or just wait for Christmas time decorations. Anyway girlfriends...it didn't take much time, and the fun stuff is out. The fireplace is great, I used the vintage silver champange bucket (See my 9/9/2012 post about it.) with an orange pumpkin. I think that bucket it is to become I favorite of mine...not to be boxed up most of the year.

Drought in the Pacific NW... Oregon

Friday, October 5, 2012

I have been wondering about our long, dry, summer (yes it still is summer). Today, I checked out what the experts are saying about it. It is the driest summer since 1871, when records have been kept in Portland Oregon. We have had no rain at all since July 1st. The forecast is for another 10 days or so without any rain...there is a large high in the Pacific, that is not moving. Instead, the weather is going into Canada and back down into the plains. When fall finally comes I wonder what the records will be. We are feeding the winter hay to the cattle, and the wildlife are desperate for something green to eat.

This area's climate is rainy Pacific NW. We had a wet, wet, spring that lasted until July 1st. The yearly rain total is probably close to normal with the spring.

Wildfire danger is extreme, if one starts it is going to be a whopper. I hope not, I detest forest fires.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Tuesday, October 2, 2012

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I think that I shall paint my short nails a shade of pretty pink. I am urging every woman I know to do it too. Get out that pretty pink shade that is in your collection, and put it on. For Breast Cancer....and don't forget checking yourself every month!

Vintage Autumn

Monday, October 1, 2012

Oh my! Time is getting away from me. It is October, and I haven't put up any of the fall decorations! I just found a vintage light-up a week ago. I must get with it.............

This is from the 1960's, cheap, old, funky stuff. I have several different ones. I don't really have any reason for a real, freshly grown pumpkin.
