Prairie Flower is Heading out for Fun!

Monday, July 21, 2014

I am so excited! I am taking Prairie Flower out for a Campout...a week! I will be in the Bend Oregon area. There are no forest fires in that area. Yes, it is going to rain a tiny bit....but I will be cozy and very happy anyway. I will post again in about 8 to 10 days. Hip, Hip, Hurrah!! On the road again.....

The Honey Bees are Dead

Sunday, July 20, 2014

There are a few dozen worker bees out and about, but within two weeks all of them will be dead also.  My flowers have only native bees on them, mainly Bumblebees.  Hubby thinks that he wishes to try again next spring, with fresh new bees.

What to Wear?? At the Lake....

Friday, July 18, 2014

OK, here is a selection of swim wear from the past....hum...my dermatologist might approve of one with most skin coverage. I personally think that this one is the cutest! You know, I think that I could sew one of these 2 piece suits. However, the new ones made today use the most advanced stretch and squeeze abilities to make a person look much better than say....normal under wear. Ha! You say. What would make a 60+ year old woman want to don such.....fat chance that you will see me in one at the beach. My idea to cover up my skin is a swimsuit as base layer, with a sunscreen shirt on top...and maybe a yoga crop pant. Well...at least I can enjoy the water.

Kayak with Camptown Girls

Judy H.

Most of the members of Camptown Girls have Kayaks. I have been considering, or teasing myself with purchasing my own.  I admit that it is fun to paddle around a high mountain lake, enjoy the quiet, see the wildlife and hear the sounds/songs of nature. I make it seem so desirable...if fact, I want it very much. My truth is that I have skin cancer, having all 4 kinds removed from my skin. I am very fortunate to have not had it kill me, I have survived for 17 years. I know that I have a responsibility to myself to avoid sun exposure. I can do that with good sunscreen, clothing, hats, and being smart about my sun exposure. I must not get into a kayak and tease my health to enjoy the adventures that await. My decision is made.

Junk Gypsies Dad's Biscuits

Sunday, July 13, 2014

I am already talking about Junk Gypsies TV Show...they had a segment showing their Dad making his biscuits from scratch. He doesn't use any kind of measuring...so Jolie figured out the recipe to share with us. It is on their blog, or...you could order up a package of the prepared mix. I will just share the genuine Texas recipe posted on their blog. P.S. it is also on Pinterest.

Junk Gypsies

Saturday, July 12, 2014

I like the Junk Gypsies TV show. It is hot and humid here...very unusual for Oregon. The heat of the day keeps me indoors, and crafting. I sometimes watch TV, and The Junk Gypsies have been showing all their old shows again. I saw these T shirts on the show and love the right one. So pretty!!

The ladies are very creative and I like to follow their Pinterest Board. I can get some good ideas from their show and Pins.

There is Trouble in the Bee Hive

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

We started our journey in Bee Keeping about 15 months ago, and all was good until sometime in late May 2014. I think that we had the hive swarm, and most of them left for another location. I have read and understand that there is a new Queen left with a variety of workers and eggs to hatch. We just know that the colony had a dramatic decline in numbers, after the fruit trees bloomed. We could not locate a Queen in the hive. There is plenty of food stored in the hive for the bees...and they stopped eating the food that we provide. We got a replacement Queen, and installed her.  If she succeeded in making her way around the hive and layed eggs...the new workers  will start hatching soon. Or if not, the bees will die and there will be an empty box. You see, the worker bees only live 3 weeks. It certainly is disappointing to have invested so much into the project...and to have this happen.
