I just got one of these for Radar, a Black Lab shedding machine.....I am facing yet another spring shedding. The hair, the hair, sweeping, swiffer, and vacumn really get a workout.  Every time I turn around there is black hair.  So I thought, what about trying the Furminator. If I don't like it, I will return it. They a pretty expensive, I recommend checking Amazon for a good price.

My review - ***** 5 stars  Wonderful, in just a few minutes I removed a pile of black hair.  I will keep it, and use it often until he is shed of his winter coat.

A Lazy Day at the Farm

I have been alone on the farm the last week, with 10 animals to care for, and the garden. And....pet sitting to boot! These two have been enjoying twice daily swims. My dog is the Lab, Radar. I am taking care of Cappie, the Pom. These boys get along very well. This pic is of them drying...post swim. I am lounging under a market umbrella..drying off also. I get soaked from my knees down...from them. I have with me the essentials....

A hard cover book, from Goodwill for 20 cents, how about that deal!
My Nook in the pink case, I have about 50 books on it...currently reading The Hunger Games. And...in the Gold case, my Nexus Tablet.  I just got the gold case, at Macy's clearance...a $30 item..for $5, how about that deal. I have been thinking about crafting a case...but not anymore! I just love to use cases with a feminine touch (someone will not want to borrow them). I am not into sharing my goodies...

Don't ya just love it when that happens!!! I found another great deal on end of summer clearance...a pair of nice shorts (original price $45) for $3.99....that's 90% off!!! We will have a month of warm weather in September, so I will use them right away.

Wild Turkeys on the Farm

Today, a flock of 20 wild Turkeys were in our lower field on the farm. They were really hungry, eating on green grass (recently fertilized) as fast as they could. We do not see the turkeys frequently, they pass across the farm pretty quickly, or they stay hidden in our timbered acres. Hubby did shoot a large male turkey and our lab (Radar) got the retrieve his first turkey. 

Dog Days of Summer

This is our Black Labrador Retriever...Radar, named after the MASH show character. He is now 4 years old, an still a very energetic wild thing. I have been taking it easy from the second cancer removal on my right hand. I go back on August 1st, and I hope to be released by my wonderful derm, Dr Diane Baird. I have been under her care for 15 years. I am ever watchful, and very happy that I had this taken care of - invasive, well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. I had a rapid growing tumor. 

My Patio Getaway

Radar and I are sitting in the best spot on the patio, under the umbrella, in a comfortable chair with cushions.

I like to sit in the wood chair, and use the old camp stool to put my legs on.

I use mostly herbs in this area, to keep the deer out.

The swimming pool, with the lavender blooming, the variety is Grosso.  Lavender is one plant the deer detest, and it is really easy to grow.

The neighbors' radio has not been on in the past 2 days. I am happy about it.

It is Time to Cool Off!

The weather lately has been the hottest of the summer, in the 90's. So...what's a farmgirl to do? Play in the pool with my dog, of course. Here he is, jumping into the water...Radar really loves this.  I start the dog play with throwing a toy on dry land, until he is panting...then into the pool.  I like to sit on the side of the pool, wearing shorts...my legs in the water. He splashes a bit, so...when I am pretty wet I stop.  Then I relax in the shade with my Nook, reading while I dry.  It is actually really nice! Check here for the Nook, I am happy with mine.
