How To Do a Birthday...

Friday, January 31, 2014

Hum....how about giving me a vacation to somewhere wonderful. That would make my day.  How about a telephone call, or email, or a real mailed card?

Nothing, I got nothing...........from anyone but myself. I purchased a large piece of chocolate lovers cake from a great bakery! It is soooooooooo good!!! In fact, I am going to eat the rest of it right now.......yummy!

Hard Things

Thursday, January 30, 2014
I have been living thru some crummy times lately. You know how it is...I take care of one problem...then 2 or 3 others pop-up......

It hasn't been anything really big, just a whole lot of small stuff. OK, so I am prioritizing things to be done by the time frames and urgency. I just get discouraged a little by the relentless of these things. Alright Already!!

I am going to be OK!

Readers, I am very underwhelmed by the lack of responses to the last post!!! Come ON, get with it, I need responses!

Love This Old House

Friday, January 24, 2014

I took this photo in the ghost town of Flora, Oregon. To get there, you have to drive way off the normal highways.  I loved taking pictures in the area, remote...several hours from a town off any size. The day was wonderful.

Today, this house represents how my life feels....right at this moment. Many things are going in all directions, and plenty of people relying on my strength, brains, and will power. I feel a little beat-up by life and some challenges. I changed one problem in the last 1/2 hour! Yes, I feel strong!

I am strong, I am brave, and I can do these things.

I live my truth. I keep living my truth.
I am a Brave Girl!!!!!

I am done with the short pause I took last Sunday, and back to the real world.

Vintage Pin Cushion...Cute Little Dog

Thursday, January 23, 2014

I was out and about to the junk stores in my very small town (pop 3000) and came across a small dog pincushion. This picture is larger than life of the cute dog. Mine is missing the tape measure, but it still has a few pins, and the made in Japan label. I think that it from the 1950's. It reminds me of the little sewing treasures that my mother had.  This particular store sometimes has old sewing trims, and vintage fabric... and I love to get these things to craft with. The best part is the price, very little...........fifty cents for several items...total.

Now and Then...

Fortune Cookie

We must always have old
memories and young hopes.

Hum, sometimes I will get a fortune cookie that is very special. I have kept this one for a long time...pondering this phrase. I think that I am a searcher, for my important things. Or, maybe just a lover of interesting ideas and thoughts. Something like the old Girl Scout song, Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver, and the other gold. Of course that just isn't true...some people are neither.

It is like the times when we get caught up in our everyday lives...the frantic, crazy, all-consuming stuff. Our minds are in overdrive, even when sleeping...planning, worries, deadlines....I know that I never had any time to myself and certainly didn't think about this kind of thing.

Young Hopes
Think about it, and what it means to you.

No Regret

Thursday, January 16, 2014

I often talk with people I know and they all seem to be waiting. I ask them why, your life is going by....and will be over before you know it. I don't want to sound negative...but putting off your life is probably something you will regret....maybe not right now, but eventually.

Fix your hair, keep it looking good.
Throw out the worn out clothes, dress yourself to feel good.
Take care of your health.
Evaluate what is good for you, and take action.
Keep your own counsel, others may not "get you"...
Listen to your heart!

Bella Armoire Magazine --- Eye Candy

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Here is a little eye candy for you. I stopped by Joann Fabric today for some fusible interfacing, then...there are at least 12 ladies waiting in line to checkout. Oh No... so I wandered around a little and saw this magazine. The cover is very eye catching, I love the look of crumpled ruffles (but I would never wear it), daring look.  I saw this great tunic inside. The front is very nice, the is no way that I would ever find anything like this.  I might be able to cut up some vintage pillowcase to create something along this idea. I do have at least 10 - 12 pretty pillowcases to use. I did get a tunic top last summer..maybe I will work with it to pretty it up with vintage lace and embroidery.

Need Some Hand Warmers?? Make Them Yourself.

Monday, January 6, 2014

The weather is so cold in most of the USA today. Here is a cute little idea to make rice bags for heating or cooling your hands or....

This is a creative use of little odds and ends of leftover fabric. See this post for instructions.  Bee In My Bonnet

I am going to get some low priced rice and make a few of these. They are easy to use...warm in the microwave for a minute to warm, or put in the freezer to chill.

Crafting with Clay

Sunday, January 5, 2014

I did some jewelry crafting with clay last winter, and I thought I would do it again.  There was a good sale before Christmas on clay at Joann Fabrics.  I got a few $1 Sculpty clay blocks in some colors that I like and some white (to paint). These ideas used both colored clay and painted clay.  There are many ideas on Pinterest. These two used the edge effect with jewels and beads is something that I have not tried. I kinda looks a little like a SW American jewelry. I like it...the handcrafted look is great. If you have daughters, have a crafting night with them...it's fun. My daughter likes to do this with me.
