Vintage Pin Cushion...Cute Little Dog
Thursday, January 23, 2014
I was out and about to the junk stores in my very small town (pop 3000) and came across a small dog pincushion. This picture is larger than life of the cute dog. Mine is missing the tape measure, but it still has a few pins, and the made in Japan label. I think that it from the 1950's. It reminds me of the little sewing treasures that my mother had. This particular store sometimes has old sewing trims, and vintage fabric... and I love to get these things to craft with. The best part is the price, very little...........fifty cents for several items...total.

The past week has brought many storms to this area. The fortunate thing is that there has been heavy rainfall. This means some fires...small and only a few fires...a good thing. The Forest Service has most of the fire fighters out of the state, Idaho has a big one in Sun Valley.
The camping trip that I just missed, had several storms and heavy rain. I am kinda relieved that I stayed home. I went junking today, and found a few great things for Prairie Flower...another vintage enameled metal floral dish and 4 vintage wood hangers for my clothes. I also found some crafting supplies, always good!

I think that this movie started the fragrance line, White Shoulders.
This is a very pretty advertisement...1930's....
Here's the post. I went junking again, no surprise there. A local small-town fund raiser, I was there later in the day... long after it had been picked. That said, I did make a few finds, and $1 later I was done. My best purchase was this 1950-60's White Shoulders Powder Box. Pink plastic with a lovely patterned lid, full of smell-less powder and a puff. The box is in perfect condition and I really liked it.

Maybe you can see why I like it so much. I think that I will use it in my vintage travel trailer, to store some small things. I want to add that I remember back in the early 70's...in college, the sorority mother remarked that she like this scent...we gave her some as a gift. It's kinda funny what stuff I remember.
