I just returned home from a 5 day Glamping Retreat. I met up with some gals and we camped together, near Sisters Oregon. The area is beautiful, and there are many activities. It rained lightly over the weekend. Meanwhile on the home front....it poured about 4 inches of rain. This is just a quick photo of my water heating pots or coffee pots. The travel mug is in the photo to give you an idea of the sizes. The tiny pot heats just enough water for the travel mug...and very quickly too. The large blue has been living with us for a long time now, and going on many trips. I just have to make certain that it is totally dry, or it will rust inside. A junking and antique trip to nearby Redmond was really fun...and I found....next time...........

Notice the chalkboard door, a fun idea that some gals are doing to their trailers. |
The dinette had a nice display with lace everywhere. |
The sofa... makes into a bed. |
A handkerchief collection for kitchen window covering. |
I love the color of the stove and ice box! |

I read from Jackie Clay's homesteading news/blog about how to use a crock pot for cooking and reducing my tomatoes. My garden is slowly ripening, so I have used my crock pot. The nice thing about about cooking down the tomatoes is I don't have to watch them, and have a hot stove going all day. I just chop up the skinned tomatoes and fill up my crock pot. I put it on low all day, then crack the lid a tiny bit to release the steam...and leave it on low overnight. Then I process in the boiling water bath according to the Ball Canning Book. I get 4 to 5 pints usually. Here is Jackie's Blog.

He always comes when I call him over. His face is pretty, and his muzzle is very soft. He is sweet. |
The chestnut red mare is a very unruly girl. She is always squealing and carrying on, but they are buddies. |
These three are next door today, however, the owner changes the horses around sometimes. She has 5 horses in total, so at times everybody is here. |

This vintage trailer is decorated in a cowgirl theme. Some cute things here, the cowgirl pillow and the coffee pot caught my eye. Last Sunday, when I went to the vintage fair...I hoped to find a great coffee pot for Prairie Flower. I only found pots that where in terrible condition, or the good ones were very expensive. I just don't think that I need a $60 coffee pot. There was a vendor with french enamel coffee pots, the pots were very pretty with nice price tags too. Oh well, my search will continue...if I only knew someone going to France...
One of my few finds is a vintage floral tablecloth that has a few holes and frayed edges. I am going to cut it up into tea towels for Prairie Flower. The result will be fun...............

Mary Jane's Truffles
I have a chocolate addiction...it is true. I love dark chocolate truffles. I am not good at making my own. That said, this recipe may change that problem. Raising Jane Journal

Now, I want to say that I don't do yard sales or garage sales. However, after last Saturday that might change. I went to 3 local sales....I thought that all I would see is old clothes and junk. Much to my surprise I found a vintage Griswold #9 Skillet. The inside was rusted, and I wasn't very interested until I looked at the bottom...and saw that it was vintage. Well, we love cast iron at my home and I am not certain where the skillet will end up... maybe a gift? I have begun the rust removal and re seasoning of this pan. I found that these were made between 1919 and 1940. How much did I pay? $1. Yes, and this pan is worth much more...I saw one priced at $200 online. That seems too high....but, anyway.

I thought that you might be wondering how my scar looks from the skin cancer removal in July. It has been two months and I have a small pink scar at this time. I do not scar very much, and I think that in a few months there will be a slight reminder of the removal. I am happy to report that healing is going well.
Oh, BTW, my left hand is finally back to normal!

Yesterday I was stung by a yellow jacket...on the middle finger of my left hand. The sting was located on the palm side, just above the palm. Ouch, and then the worry about the possible allergic reaction. Sis acted quickly, getting me some meds to take. I was swigging away on some children's Benadryl and took several Aspirin. I had immediately put ice of it (we were at an outdoor cafe). Today, I have a very swollen left hand, the knuckles are hidden in the swelling...that itches terribly. This calls for more ice packs and benadryl. I hope that tomorrow will see the swelling leave. I have been unusually sleepy today. I will not be playing the ukulele until the left hand is normal. Bummer!
